Bloomsburg University to Host Screening of “When They See Us”

BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will screen the first episode of the limited series “When They See Us.” The screening will take place on Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Kehr Union ballroom 1-2. It is free and open to the public. A faculty-led discussion will follow the screening.

“When They See Us” is a limited series streaming on Netflix that was co-written and directed by Ava DuVernay. The series is based on events of the 1989 Central Park jogger case and explores the lives and families of the five male suspects who were falsely accused and then prosecuted on charges related to the rape and assault of a woman in Central Park, New York City. One of the Central Park Five, Yusef Salaam, will be the keynote at the Sankofa Conference on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Carver Hall, Gross Auditorium. The Sankofa Conference keynote address is free and open to the public.
