Bloomsburg University to screen the film “Harriet”

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is screening the film “Harriet” on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Kehr Union Ballroom. Additionally, it will also screen on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 7 and 9:30 p.m. in the ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

“Harriet” is a historical drama depicting the life of the American hero Harriet Tubman, who led many slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad. Her efforts lasted from 1850 to 1860, the year the Civil War began.

The film stars Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr, Janelle Monae, Joe Alwyn and Clarke Peters. Discussion and refreshments will follow the screening.

The BU Program Board, the Black Cultural Society, and the Multicultural Affairs office sponsor the event that is funded by the Community Government Association.
