Upward Bound Program Celebrating 40 Years

BLOOMSBURG--The TRIO Upward Bound (UB) program at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a reunion luncheon for all alumni, former students and staff on Saturday, July 13, at noon. Registration will begin at 11 a.m.

The reunion luncheon will take place in the Kehr Union Ballroom. The cost is $20 per person. Registration deadline is June 13. The registration link is available on the program’s reunion Facebook page (@40yearsofUBatBU).

Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program designed to help prepare eligible high school students to enter and succeed in postsecondary education immediately after high school, preferably at a four-year college or university. Funded by the United States Department of Education, this educational opportunity program has existed at Bloomsburg University since 1978 and serves students in grades 9-12.

Since 1978, thousands of students from Benton, Berwick, Bloomsburg, Central Columbia, Danville, Mahanoy, Milton, Minersville, Mount Carmel, North Schuylkill, Pottsville, Shamokin, Shikellamy, Southern Columbia and Tamaqua have participated in the Upward Bound program at Bloomsburg.
