Faculty to explore the role of higher education in mass incarceration

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will host “Restorative Justice and Education: Bloomsburg University's Prison Outreach” on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in Centennial Hall, room 218.

This event is designed to create awareness and foster dialogue around the role of higher education in addressing the crisis of mass incarceration. A brief overview of the Second Chance Pell Grant program will be followed by a discussion panel and audience Q&A with Bloomsburg University faculty who teach inmates at state prisons and with educational staff from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

The faculty panel will feature Cathy Pickett and Brandon Daynorowicz from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as well as BU faculty members Mark Decker, Wendy Lee, Rodger Benefiel, Christina Francis, and Jacklyn Leitzel. David Heineman will moderate the event.

The College of Liberal Arts sponsors the event.
