Drone Wars to be held on campus

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University’s Department of Mathematical and Digital Sciences and the United States Army will host the first Drone Wars competition during BloomCon on Saturday, March 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. Weather permitting the event will be held on the academic quad or in the case of rain Centennial Hall.

The competition requires high school and college teams to hack, take over and command a Wi-Fi controlled “quadcopter” drone. The team that hacks into the drone and flies it through an obstacle course in the shortest amount of time wins.

The drones used during the completion will have the following specifications:

  • Processor: ARM Cortex A8 processor 1GHz 32 bit with 800MHz video DSP TMS320DMC64x, Ram: 1GB DDR2 RAM at 200MHz, OS: Linux 2.6.32
