BLOOMSBURG— It is time for Homecoming weekend at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Alumni and students can take part in the numerous events offered by BU, Thursday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct.8. This year’s theme is “Board Games with Bloom.”
Kicking off Homecoming weekend is the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Symposium. The symposium will be Thursday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 6.
The dedication of Soltz Hall will take place on Friday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. on the front steps of the building. Also, that day, the College of Science and Technology (COST) Career Day will be held from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. The day will conclude with the It’s Personal campaign finale featuring fireworks on the Academic Quad at 10 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The BU Homecoming Parade will begin Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. The parade forms at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital parking lot and ends at the Bloomsburg Town Park. Also, the men’s and women’s swimming team will hold their alumni meet at the Nelson Field House pool on upper campus starting at 11 a.m., while the field hockey team will host Mercyhurst University at Steph Pettit Stadium at 11 a.m.
On lower campus, the BU Alumni Association tent party will be on the Academic Quad on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Then, back on upper campus, the BU homecoming football game against Kutztown University at Redman Stadium, will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime following the Husky Marching Band’s performance.
On Sunday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. Pastor Martin J. Harris, Sr., young adult pastor for FOCUS Ministry at Bethel Deliverance International Church in Philadelphia will lead a service in the Kehr Union Building Multicultural room. The field hockey team will wrap up the weekend hosting Lindenwood at noon at Steph Pettit Stadium.
