College of Education dean will step down, return to faculty

For Immediate Release: April 5, 2017

Elizabeth Mauch, dean of the College of Education since 2009, has announced plans to resign as dean and return to the faculty, effective May of 2017.

“I have enjoyed my time as dean,” said Mauch. “I am looking forward to getting back to my first love of teaching and research.”

During her tenure as dean, Mauch helped establish the McDowell Institute for Teacher Excellence in Positive Behavior Support and a rural STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiative for eleventh and twelfth graders.

Mauch worked closely with the regional K-12 superintendents to strengthen education initiatives and foster greater collaboration and alignment. She also increased the number of grants secured to enhance BU’s teacher preparation programs.

Mauch will rejoin faculty as a full-time professor of mathematics.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Moravian College and a master of science degree and a doctorate from Lehigh University.

BU will search for a new dean.
