BLOOMSBURG — Collaborating with some of the industry’s best choreographers and musicians, the internationally renowned Parsons Dance Company will perform on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m. in Mitrani Hall, Haas Center for Performing Arts, at Bloomsburg University as part of the Celebrity Artist Series.
The company was founded in 1985 by David Parsons. The dancers have toured over 350 cities, 30 countries and five continents.
Parsons’ presentation of classical music’s greatest hits brings dancers and singers together when two companies, Parsons Dance and East Village Opera Company join forces to perform unique combinations of uplifting, family-friendly contemporary dance with hard-hitting arrangements, including selections from their rock-dance opera “Remember Me.”
The evening will feature many of Parsons’ pieces, including his masterpiece, “Caught.” This piece features more than 100 leaps in six minutes by a solo dancer. Theatrical lighting creates the illusion that the dancer is in flight.
Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 10,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
