Art students bring ‘home’ to Bloomsburg

For Immediate Release:  Nov. 11, 2015

BLOOMSBURG — Homesickness is a natural feeling for university students living away from where they were raised. Bloomsburg University art students will relieve this feeling by bringing “home” to BU in the “Conceptions of Home” Show. The show runs from Monday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, in the Gallery at Greenly Center, 50 E. Main St. An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Greenly Center. Admission is free and open to the public.

Students were asked to submit any medium of artwork that deals directly with their home or the idea of a home. Open to all art students, the show gives an opportunity to display their work in a highly visible venue.

The pieces will be juried by BU sculpture professor Ron Lambert, based on criteria such as adherence and understanding of the assigned theme, quality of the work in terms of technique and craftsmanship, and an overall subjective judgment of the best work.

The gallery is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m.; Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.; Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.; and Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 10,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
