Elizabethtown professor to speak on Buddhism at BU

BLOOMSBURG — Jeffery Long, professor of religion and Asian studies at Elizabethtown College, will present “Buddhism: Origins, Philosophy and Practice” as part of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Conversation on World Religions series. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m, Tuesday, March 12, in Hartline Science Center, Kuster Auditorium.

Long earned his doctoral degree from the Divinity School at the University of Chicago in 2000. He is currently the department chair of religious studies at Elizabethtown College and co-chair of the North American Hinduism unit of the American Academy of Religion. He also is associated with the D?NAM (the Dharma Association of North America) and the Vedanta Society. Long has authored three books and published articles in several academic journals including Prabuddha Bharata and The Journal of Religion.
