BLOOMSBURG — The assistant dean of Clayton State University’s School of Business has been selected as the next dean of the College of Business at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Michael Tidwell, also associate professor of management at Clayton State, near Atlanta, Ga., previously taught at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky.; Whitworth University, Spokane, Wash.; and Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo. He was a visiting professor at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya, and CHM College and Birla College in India and led study abroad trips in South Africa.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity,” Tidwell said. “I have many colleagues who are familiar with Bloomsburg University and they speak very highly both of Bloomsburg and the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. I’m looking forward to leading the College of Business and working with the larger university team.”
Outside of academics, Tidwell worked as assistant product manager in the marketing department of Epson America and has worked as a management consultant. His research interests include employee intelligence, organizational socialization within multinational corporations and organizational identity.
Tidwell, a native of southern California, earned a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., and master’s and doctoral degrees from Washington State University, Pullman, Wash. He and his wife, Karen, are the parents of 13-year-old Cyrus and 9-year-old Bradley.
Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 9,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
