For immediate release: Feb. 11, 2010

BLOOMSBURG — Eleven current or retired faculty members from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s art and art history department have donated artwork to a silent auction to offset expenses related to their department secretary’s cancer treatment.

According to Marilee Salvator, assistant professor of art, all proceeds from the silent auction will go to Rosemary Huber, department secretary, to help defray the costs of medical care and related expenses. Huber began cancer treatment last summer.

Artwork is on display through Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the art and art history office suite, second floor of Old Science Hall. On Thursday, Feb. 18, the artwork will be moved to the Moose Exchange, 203 W. Main St., Bloomsburg, where final bids can be made from 4 to 9 p.m. during the Art Walk-in. Members of the Student Art Association will sell art T-shirts to benefit Huber at Art Walk-in.

In addition to Salvatore, current or retired BU faculty members participating in the fundraiser are: Karl Beamer, Meredith Grimsley, Jason Godeke, Vince Hron, Lee Millard, Greg Mueller, Stu Nagel, Sue O’Donnell, Barbara Strohman and Vera Viditz-Ward. Works range from ceramics and fabric art to paintings and photography.
