BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania Dance Ensemble will perform on Thursday and Friday, March 27 and 28, at 7 p.m., in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. The ensemble will present 23 styles of dance, ranging from Irish step and Latin to African and modern hip-hop. The senior dance at the end of the show will feature many dance styles. The performance is open to the public. Donations will be taken at the doors.
The BU dance team, a smaller group within in the ensemble, will perform as well. The team dances during basketball games and recently earned first place in the college hip-hop division at the Universal Dance Association Garden State Championship in South Brunswick, N.J.
The dance ensemble has nearly 200 members and membership is open to all interested students. Tryouts are required for only a few of the classes which are offered at three levels -- beginner, intermediate and advanced. Dance classes are taught by students who have had at least one year of experience in the ensemble.
