BLOOMSBURG— Stephen Schmerin, Pennsylvania Secretary of Labor and Industry, will speak on “Making Pennsylvania Stronger through Workforce and Economic Development” Friday, April 21, at 2 p.m. The lecture, which is open to the public free of charge, will be presented in Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Centennial Hall, room 218.
Schmerin was appointed as Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Labor and Industry by Gov. Ed Rendell in January 2003. Prior to his appointment, he was a private attorney for more then 20 years. He also served as an arbitrator for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation, as well as a fact finder and arbitrator for the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a juris doctor degree from Duquesne University.
