More than 600 to graduate from BU Dec. 16 and 17

BLOOMSBURG—More than 600 students will graduate during Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s winter commencement next weekend in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. Eighty-nine master’s degree students will receive their degrees Friday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m.; degrees will be conferred on 521 undergraduates in ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Continuing a tradition begun last year, two BU faculty members will deliver the commencement addresses. Michael Shepard, professor of geography and geosciences, will speak at the morning ceremony for graduates in the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science and Technology, and Mike Shapeero, professor of accounting, will deliver the address at the afternoon commencement for the College of Professional Studies and the College of Business.

Also during the undergraduate ceremonies, the top honor graduates from each college will be recognized. They are: Professional Studies – Jayne Jones, Shamokin, nursing, and Kathleen Kieper, Voorhees, N.J., early childhood education; Liberal Arts – Molly Clay, Kempton, English; Business – Christine Gasper, Beaver Meadows, business education; and Science and Technology – Lisa Mulligan, Hazleton, geography.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students and offers 65 bachelor’s, 18 master’s and one doctoral degree.
