BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s piano series continues with a performance by jazz pianist Orrin Evans Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. in Carver Hall’s Kenneth S. Gross Auditorium. The series is presented in conjunction with the university’s Celebrity Artist Series.
Evans has recorded more than eight CDs, including compilations with several other jazz musicians. He has performed at venues worldwide, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and jazz festivals in Istanbul, Wales and Jamaica. In 2002, the Philadelphia Inquirer named Evans’ CD “Meant to Shine” in the top 10 jazz CDs. He has conducted workshops, clinics and master classes throughout the United States and abroad.
Evans received his education and training from the Community College of Pennsylvania and Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Tickets for Evan’s Feb. 2 concert are $3 for students and seniors and $5 for adults. Tickets can be obtained through the Haas Center for the Arts box office at (570) 389-4409. The box office is open Monday through Friday noon to 4 p.m. and noon to 8 p.m. on performance dates.
