Slippery Rock Pre-National Invitational
SLIPPERY ROCK--The Bloomsburg University men's cross country team took fifth place, while the women's team finished seventh at the Slippery Rock Pre-National Invitational on Saturday. The event was held on the same course on which the NCAA Regional and National championships will be held in November.
On the men's side with a total of 237 racers, Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was the Huskies' top finisher in 18th place with a time of 26:21 with Jim Stockley (Elverson/Twin Valley) right on Dalton's heels in 19th place in 26:22. Freshman Bobby Furman (Broomall/Marple Newton) was 25th in 26:28, Auston Martzall (Myerstown/ELCO) 48th in 27:10. Taking 63rd was Jared Arnold (Philadelphia/Carver) in 27:27, while Dave Moyer (Boyertown/Boyertown) was 66th in 27:28. Finishing in 83rd was Cory Hardy (Coatesville/Unionville) in 27:52.
For the women, in a field of 292, Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) earned a medal with a 13th place finish in a time of 22:57. Andreak Kellock was 28th in 23:31, while Angela Borealo (Easton/Easton) was 43rd in 23:52. Taking 46th was Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) in 23:57, while Katie Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) was 57th in 24:13. Finished 71st was Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) in 24:39, while Christa Johnson (Nescopeck/Berwick) was 77th in 24:50.
The Huskies are idle till the Penn State Open on Oct. 17th.
