Angela Borealo Wins Bucknell Invitational
LEWISBURG--Bloomsburg University junior Angela Borealo (Easton/Easton) took first place at the Bucknell University Cross Country Invitational on Friday in the season-opening event for the Huskies.
Borealo finished in a time of 17:25 to win the three-mile event by 14 seconds. Katie Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) finished fourth in her first collegiate race in a time of 17:39, while Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) was ninth in 18:00.
Freshman Samantha Rhood (Downingtown/Downingtown West) took 22nd in 18:52, while Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) finished 29th in 19:08 with Caitlin Heller (Bloomsburg/Nixa) 40th in 19:41.
As a team the Huskies took second to Bucknell with 25 points.
For the Bloomsburg men, Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was the Huskies top finisher taking fourth in 20:10 on the four-mile course. Jim Stockley (Elverson/Twin Valley) was 14th in 20:46, while Bobby Furman (Broomall/Marple Newton) was 18th in 20:59 in his first collegiate race.
Dave Moyer (Boyertown/Boyertown Area) was fourth for the Huskies and 20th overall in 21:03, while Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) was 25th in 21:20 with Auston Martzall (Myerstown/ELCO) right behind in 26th in a time of 21:22. Dan Sietsma (Mahway, NJ/Easter Christian) rounded out the team's top seven with a 30th place finish in 21:26.
Bloomsburg hosts the Husky Invitational on Sept. 6th.
