BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University women's tennis player Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the period ending April 9. It marks the third straight week that a Husky has been awarded the honor. Emily Murphy (Worcester/ Methacton) and Katie Hasyn (Lansdale/ North Penn) won the award the previous two weeks.
Hokkanen, a senior, dropped just two games in leading the Huskies to a 9-0 win over East Stroudsburg on April 3. At No. 3 singles she posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory, and teamed with doubles partner Torie Cunningham (Greenlawn, NY/ Harborfields) to claim an 8-1 triumph. For the year, Hokkanen claims a 12-5 record in singles play.
Blooomsburg, 12-1, 4-0 in the PSAC East, will host the Bloomsburg Duals this weekend starting at 10 a.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
