Women's Soccer Falls in PSAC Playoffs
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to fifth-ranked West Chester in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs.
The Huskies fell behind 1-0 at the 8:31 mark when Lara Bodenstab scored off an assist from April Wszalek. Bloomsburg attacked offensively and had two shots on goal midway through the first half. One shot by Meagan Lynch (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) was saved by West Chester goalie Lyndsie Bernardini, while Kelly Mode's (Langhorne/Neshaminy) shot was blocked.
The Golden Rams went on top 2-0 at 36:56 of the first half when Melissa McKeary scored off an assist from Sarah Oswald. The Huskies nearly got on the board with just seconds left in the half, but Kristine Preski's (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) shot hit the crossbar as the horn sounded.
In the second half of play the Huskies had a couple of shots get saved by Bernardini and also had one go wide. West Chester put the game out of reach in the 83rd minute when Oswald scored unassisted.
Bloomsburg ends the season with a record of 6-10-3.
