Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Scores 1-0 Win Over West Chester
BLOOMSBURG-Sophomore Katie Walczuk (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) scored the game's lone goal as the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team outlasted nationally-ranked West Chester 1-0 in PSAC East action on Wednesday evening at Sports Stadium.
Both teams played tough defense, as they combined for five total shots through the first 45 minutes of play. The Huskies (1-1, 1-0) got on the board at the 64:43 mark when Walczuk took a pass from senior Kelly Modes (Langhorne/Neshaminy) and put it past the goalie to end the scoreless tie.
Bloomsburg shut down the No. 13 Golden Rams the rest of the way as seniors Angela Brown (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and Eileen Alexander (East Northport, NY/Commack), along with junior Kristine Preski (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) came up with huge defensive stops to keep West Chester off the board. Sophomore Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) went the entire way in goal for the Huskies, registering three saves.
Bloomsburg is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Millersville to take on the Marauders.
