Modes and Preski Named to All-Region Teams
BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University women's soccer players Kelly Modes (Langhorne/Neshaminy) and Kristine Preski (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) have been named to 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's NCAA Division II All-Atlantic Region teams. Modes was named to the second team while Preski received third team honors.
Modes led the Huskies in scoring with seven goals and three assists in 19 games this past season. The senior midfielder was also named the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the year in addition to earning first team honors for the fourth straight season. She finished her career at Bloomsburg in 10th place all-time in school history in goals with 21. "Kelly had a brilliant career for us and I am pleased she has been named to the All Region team her senior year," said head coach Sandy Dickson. "She was by far our most dynamic force on the field this season, and her presence will be missed on the pitch next fall."
Preski, a junior, played a key role on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. She helped the Huskies limit opponents to just 25 goals this season. The forward earned second team All-PSAC East honors this season after being selected to the first team each of her first two seasons with the Huskies. "Kristine is always dangerous on the field and is a multi-dimensional player who provides consistency on both sides of the ball for us," said Dickson. "She is deserving of this honor and I am pleased the regional coaches have recognized her."
