Bloomsburg Wrestling Roles Past Sacred Heart on Tuesday Night

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University wrestling team beat Sacred Heart University by a score of 41-6 on Tuesday night at the Nelson Field House.

The Huskies dominated the meet getting three wins by fall, one by technical fall and two by forfeit.

Earning wins by fall were Joe McAuley (Dunellen, NJ/Bishop Ahr) at 141 pounds, Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) at 174 and Nate Graham (Selkirk, NY/Ravena) at 184.

The Huskies go to 8-2 with the win and will wrestle this weekend in the NWCA National Duals at the University of Northern Iowa. The Huskies will face number two ranked Iowa State in the opening round on Saturday.

Match by Match

125-James Bak of Bloomsburg won by forfeit.

133-Bloomsburg's Jason Guffey led 6-2 after one period against Michael Impellizeri on the strength of three takedowns. In the second period Guffey picked up three more takedowns to lead 13-4 after two periods and closed out the win by technical fall with three third period takedowns to win 22-6.

141-Bloomsburg's Joe McAuley dominated from the start and scored a quick takedown to get Anthony Ricco of Sacred Heart on his back. McAuley then scored a win by fall in just 1:06.

149-Bloomsburg's Josh Roosa won by forfeit.

157-In the match between the Huskies Bryce Busler and the Pioneers Anthony Priore the pair were tied 1-1 after two periods. Busler nearly won the match at the end of regulation, but his attempt for a takedown was out of bounds. In overtime Priore did not allow Busler to escape in the first 30 second period, then, won the bout with an escape in the second 30-second period.

165-Sacred Heart's Jonathon Rizzitello opened the match with a takedown. BU's Josh Veltre then escaped to make it 2-1 after one period. Rizzitello started on bottom to begin the second period and scored an escape and takedown to go up 5-1 before a Veltre escape made it 5-2 after two periods. In the third Veltre escaped to start the period to make it 5-3. Several Veltre scoring attempts were denied by Rizzitello and the match ended 5-3.

174-Bloomsburg's Mike Dessino and Sacred Heart's Michael Hartman were tied a 2-2 after one period. Hartman opened with a takedown with Dessino scoring a reversal to knot the score heading to period two. Dessino started the second period with an escape before Hartman came back with a takedown. Dessino then scored a reversal and quickly got Hartman on his back. On his way to back points, Dessino scored the fall with 20 seconds left in the period.

184-Nate Graham was little time in taking control scoring a takedown in the opening 15 seconds of the match with Sam Sheppard. Graham then got Sheppard on his back and scored the pin in just 45 seconds.

197-Bloomsburg's Brian Shaw led 2-1 after one period getting a first period takedown followed by an escape from the Pioneers Ricky Eichenlaub. In the second period Shaw got an escape and takedown to lead 5-3 going to the third period. There was no scoring in the third period.

285-There was no scoring in the first or second periods between the Huskies Zac Walsh and the Pioneers Paul Schweighardt. Walsh escaped to start the third to lead 1-0. Walsh then went on to the win 2-0 getting a point for riding time.
