Huskies Ranked According to National Publications

BLOOMSBURG-- Several Bloomsburg University wrestlers are ranked among the nation's best according to two national publications.

According to the USA Today/Intermat/NWCA rankings Matt Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) is 11th at 157 pounds, while Ian Moser (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) is ranked 20th at 125 pounds.

According to the Wrestling Report Moley is ninth at 157, while Moser is 18th. Joining those two in the rankings are Ricky Schmelyun (New Oxford/Bermudian Springs) in 16th place at 165 pounds, while Jason Guffey (Muncy/Warrior Run) is 27th at 133 pounds.

Moley, a junior, was an All-American last year for the Huskies and is off to another good start. He is 11-2 on the year and was recently named the EWL Wrestler of the Week after picking up three wins at the Northeast Duals.

Moser, a sophomore, is 7-5 on the year and finished third at the Michigan Open in November. Schmelyun is 12-6 on the season with a team-high five pins, while Guffey is 11-5 on the year and won his weight class at the Binghamton Open a few weeks ago.

The Huskies will head to the northwest corner of Pennsylvania this week for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships being hosted by Mercyhurst College in Erie. Bloomsburg finished second at last year's championships. Following a break for the final exams next week, the Huskies will host the Bloomsburg Duals on Saturday, December 13 at the Nelson Field House.
