Moley Takes Sixth at NCAA Championships
ST. LOUIS, MO-- Bloomsburg University wrestler Matt Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) finished sixth at the 2009 NCAA Division I wrestling championships becoming the first member of the Huskies to earn All-American honors in back-to-back seasons since Dave Morgan in 1988 and 1989.
Moley, who was eighth a year ago, dropped both his matches on Saturday to take sixth place. Moley lost by a score of 3-1 to Jordan Leen of Cornell. Leen scored a late takedown to go up 3-0 and although Moley escaped with 11 seconds to go he could not score a takedown to tie the match.
In the sixth place match, Michael Chandler of Missouri, seeded fifth, edged Moley by a 2-1 score. Both wrestlers scored one point each on escapes during the bout, but it was Chandler winning the match on riding time.
Moley finishes the season with a mark of 36-8.
