BLOOMSBURG -- Bloomsburg University Wrestlers Mike Sees (Northumberland/Shikellamy), Nate Shirk (Middleburg/Middleburg), and Mike Spaid (Perkiomenville/Boyertown) are all ranked in the latest USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I Wrestling rankings.
Sees, a junior, is ranked tenth in the 125-pound weight class. At the Oklahoma Gold Classic, he took second place after going 4-1 for the day. In the Navy Classic, Sees went 3-0 and took home a first place in the 125-pound weight class. Against the University of Pittsburgh, he won by technical fall in 6:07. Sees wrestled in two matches at the Northeast Duals, winning both by decision.
Shirk, a senior, is ranked 19th in the 184-pound weight class. At the Oklahoma Gold Classic, he finished third place in his weight class. In the Navy Classic, Shirk won four matches before falling to Navy's Antonio Miranda in the finals by a score of 9-4. Against the University of Pittsburgh, he won by 4-2 decision.
Spaid, a junior, is ranked 19th in the 285-pound weight class. He went 3-1 in the Navy Classic after falling to Navy's Ed Prendergast 5-2, giving him a second place finish in the 285-pound weight class. In the Northeast Duals, Spaid picked up second place after going 3-1 for the day. At the Penn State Open, he finished 4-1 overall, which was enough to give him a second place finish in the heavyweight class.
