BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University's women's basketball player Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Freshman of the Week for the period ending December 13. This is her third freshman of the week award this season.
Wieller helped the Huskies to a victory in their only game of the week, a 103-48 win over Penn State Schuylkill on Wednesday night. She finished the game with 21 points, connecting on 7-of-10 shots, all from three-point range. The seven made three-pointers were just one short of the school record for threes in a game. Wieller also added four assists, three steals and a rebound in just 23 minutes.
This season, Wieller leads the Huskies and is third in the PSAC with 20.5 points per game and has hit 53.7 percent (29-of-54) of her three-pointers, also third in the conference.
The Huskies (5-1) play away games against Philadelphia University on December 22 and Goldey-Beacom on December 29 before returning to Nelson Field House for PSAC crossover games against Lock Haven on January 2 and Edinboro on January 3. Tip-offs for both home contests are set for 1:00 p.m.
