BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University freshman guard Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East women's basketball Freshman of the Week for period ending January 17. This is Wieller's fifth award so far this season.
Wieller helped lead the Huskies to a 2-0 week with an 86-72 victory at Cheyney on Wednesday night and a 57-48 come-from-behind home win over West Chester on Saturday afternoon. She averaged 21.5 points per game in those two contests, with 25 points coming against Cheyney. Wieller went 8-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range against the Lady Wolves. She also went 5-of-6 from the foul line and collected four steals and three rebounds. It was the seventh time this season Wieller has scored at least 20 points in a game. Against the Golden Rams, Wieller scored a game-high 18 points, going 4-of-9 from three-point range, the 10th time this season she has made at least four three's.
Wieller leads the Huskies (10-4, 2-0) and is fourth in the PSAC in scoring, averaging 18.0 points per game. She is also first in made three's per game with 3.9 and fourth with a 47.0 three-point shooting percentage (54-of-115).
