BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University women's basketball player Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Freshman of the Week for the period ending February 7. This is her first freshman of the week award.
Oxenrider led the Huskies to a win in their only game of the week, a 74-54 victory over Mansfield last Wednesday. She scored a game-high 19 points against the Mountaineers, going 6-of-8 from the field, including 5-of-6 from beyond the three-point line. She also went 2-of-2 from the foul line and added a rebound and a steal in just 23 minutes of action. The 19 points tied a season-high.
On the year, Oxenrider averages 10.4 points per game, good for third on the team. She also averages 3.7 rebounds per game and has totaled 41 assists and 31 steals.
The Huskies (13-6, 5-2) hit the court again on Monday night at 5:30 p.m. when they host Cheyney, a game that was originally scheduled for this past Saturday but was postponed due to the winter storm. Bloomsburg will then travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night to take on the Warriors. Tip-off is also set for 5:30 p.m.
