BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University women's basketball players Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) and Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland/Hazleton Area) swept the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division weekly awards for the period ending December 6. Gallagher was named Player of the Week and Flanagan was named Freshman of the Week.
Gallagher, a guard, helped lead the Huskies to a 2-0 week with an 85-62 win over Wilmington on Monday and a 75-50 win over Concordia on Wednesday. Against Wilmington, Gallagher just missed a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds and added five assists, five steals and two blocks. She shot 8-of-14 from the floor, including 2-of-5 from three-point range and was 5-of-5 from the foul line in 37 minutes of action. Against Concordia, Gallagher scored nine points and collected three rebounds, five assists and a steal in 25 minutes. All of her field goal attempts came from beyond the arc, going 3-of-3 in the game.
Flanagan also came up big in each of the Huskies victories last week. Against Wilmington, Flanagan scored six points with six assists and a steal. She hit both of her shots from the field, including a three-pointer, and was 1-of-2 from the foul line. She also grabbed three rebounds in 25 minutes. Against Concordia, Flanagan scored a team-high 15 points with eight rebounds and eight assists. In 27 minutes, the point guard shot 5-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc, and went 2-of-2 from the foul line. Flanagan added two steals and a block in the victory.
The Huskies (4-1) return to the court this Wednesday when they host Penn State-Schuylkill at the Nelson Field House at 6:00 p.m.
