BU Sweeps PSAC Women's Basketball Weekly Awards
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team swept the weekly awards handed out by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Named the PSAC East Player of the Week was Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven), while Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Week.
Kegerreis earns her second PSAC East Player of the Week award this year after recording two double-doubles in wins for Bloomsburg over Stevenson and Columbia Union. She averaged 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds and shot 70 percent (17-of-24) from the floor in the two games. She had a combined six assists, five blocks and two steals and made 11-of-18 from the free throw line. She had 19 points and 13 rebounds against Stevenson and 26 points and 10 rebounds vs. Columbia Union. For the season she leads the Huskies in both scoring and rebounding with marks of 21.9 and 11.0 respectively.
Gallagher is the PSAC East Freshman of the Week this week for the third straight week (no selection last week) after averaging 12.5 points and 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in Bloomsburg's 2-0 week. She scored 20 points, dished out seven assists and had five rebounds in the win over Stevenson and then chipped in the winning effort vs. Columbia Union with five points, three assists, four blocks and three steals. For the season Gallagher is second on the team in scoring and rebounding with marks of 14.1 and 6.0, respectively.
Bloomsburg, 6-2 under new coach Bill Cleary, will be idle till Jan. 3 when it travels to Lock Haven.
