BU Track & Field Teams Compete at Orange and Maroon Classic
SELINSGROVE-The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Orange and Maroon Classic on Saturday, held on the campus of Susquehanna University. There were no team scores kept, but several Huskies athletes set Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times and marks this afternoon.
On the men's side, freshman Aaron Hacker (Dover/Dover) ran the 55 hurdles in 8.26, finishing fourth in the finals heat and qualifying for the PSAC Championships. Fellow freshman Kevin Gunderman (Nazareth/Nazareth Area) was the other men's PSAC qualifier, recording a mark of 42-6 3/4 in the triple jump, placing him fifth.
For the women, freshman Kaila Hassler (Schnecksville/Parkland) qualified with a time of 7.73 in the prelims of the 55 hurdles. She finished sixth in the finals with a time of 7.77. Senior Angela Borealo (Easton/Easton) was another PSAC qualifier, finishing with a time of 10:51.31 in the 3000 meter run. That time was good enough for third place at the meet. The final PSAC qualifier was junior Ashley Mancil (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg), who hit 9-5 3/4 in the pole vault, which was a tie for fifth overall at the meet.
Both teams return to the track next Friday and Saturday when they compete the Bison Open at Bucknell University.
