Several School Records Fall at DeShriver Invitational
BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track team took part in the DeShriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday with several school records being set.
On the women's side Brooke Matza (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman) set a new school record in the shot with a throw of 9.79 meters (32' 1.5"), while Laura Schlotterbeck (Berwick/Berwick) set a new school mark in the weight throw with a toss of 11.76 meters (38'7"). In addition, Kaila Hassler (Schnecksville/Parkland) set a new school mark in the 200 meters covering the distance in 27.10 seconds. She also ran the second fastest time in the 55 meters with a mark of 7.55 seconds. Ashley Mancil (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) broke the school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.04 meters (10'). Qualifying for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships was Angela Borealo (Easton/Easton) who ran the mile in 5:22.88.
For the men, Ryan Haas (Shillington/Gov. Mifflin) set a new school record in the weight throw with a toss of 12.16 meters (39' 10"), while two others, Jared Arnold (Philadelphia/Engineering and Science) and Mike Hookhan (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), ran PSAC qualifying times in the mile. Arnold ran a 4:28.59, while Hookham posted a mark of 4:30.02. Qualifying for the PSAC championships at 400 meters was A.J. Anderson (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) after running a time of 51.65 seconds.
The Huskies take part in the Bucknell Winter Classic on Saturday.
