Huskies Pull Out 5-4 Win Over Slippery Rock
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team posted a 5-4 win over Slippery Rock, winning their second match of the weekend, and improving their record to 3-0 in dual matches.
Bloomsburg went on top 3-0 after sweeping the doubles action. At number three the team of Laura Sullivan (Dingman's Ferry/Delaware Valley) and Andrea Malatesta (Berwick/Berwick) cruised to an easy 8-3 win.
In singles action Slippery Rock made a comeback posting quick wins at number one and two. Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) puts the Huskies back on track with a big win at three singles earning a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory. Later, with the match tied 4-4, Sullivan gave the Huskies the victory with a tough three-set victory at four singles by scores of 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Sullivan, who suffered a twisted ankle in the second set, came back to win the third set and give Bloomsburg the victory.
Bloomsburg will host East Stroudsburg this Tuesday at 4 p.m.
