Women's Tennis Falls to Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK-- The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2008-09 season with a 6-3 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-rival Slippery Rock at the Oxford North Tennis Club.

The Huskies trailed 2-1 coming out of doubles play with the team of Katie Hasyn (Lansdale/North Penn) and Kristen Bonito (Bridgewater, MA/Cassidy Memorial) picking up the lone win at number two by an 8-5 score. In the singles play, the Huskies got wins from Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) at number three and Bonito at number six. Bloomsburg also dropped a tough three-set match at number four singles when Laura Sullivan (Dingman's Ferry/Delaware Valley) lost 6-3, 4-6, 0-6.

The Huskies are back in action the first week of March in Hilton Head, SC on their annual spring break trip.
