Lacy Mauro's Game-Winning RBI Double Propels No. 13 Huskies to Win

SALEM, VA-Junior Lacy Mauro's (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) RBI double in the Huskies last at bat proved to be the game-winner as No. 13 Bloomsburg University defeated Glenville State 2-1 on the first day of the West Virginia Wesleyan softball tournament in Salem, Virginia.

The game was scoreless until the top of the eighth and final inning when the Pioneers, with runners on first and third with two outs, beat out an infield grounder, scoring a run and taking the lead.

After getting out of the inning, the Huskies led off the bottom of the inning with a single by sophomore Mandy Leach (Milford/Delaware Valley). After consecutive groundouts moved her to third, junior Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) knocked her home with a single, knotting the game at one apiece. Mauro then came to the plate and hit a ball to the gap, allowing Lazorka to score the game-winning run all the way from first as the Huskies took the win.

Mauro finished the day 2-for-3 and junior Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) went the distance in the circle, striking out 11 and allowing just three hits in picking up the win.

Bloomsburg (14-2), winners of five games in a row, will play Alderson-Broaddus and West Liberty State on Saturday.
