Fisher, Shiko Sweep Player of the Week Honors

BLOOMSBURG - Bloomsburg University softball players Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) and Nikki Shiko (Shamokin/Southern Columbia) swept the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division weekly awards after leading the Huskies to a 4-0 start this season.

Fisher, a junior pitcher, was named the pitcher of the week after allowing just one hit in two starts for the Huskies. In her first start, Fisher struck out 11 batters on route to a 3-0 win over Mount Olive. In her second start against Chowan, Fisher tossed her first career no-hitter and the 52nd in Bloomsburg history to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 win. Fisher fanned 10 batters and walked just two in the win.

Shiko, a senior, is batting .385 in four starts at third base for Bloomsburg. She has scored seven runs and knocked in two RBI this season. Shiko went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in game one of a doubleheader against Chowan, and hit her first home run of the season in a 7-4 victory in the second game. Shiko also leads the team in steals this season with three.

The Huskies (4-0) make their spring break trip to Florida this Saturday where they will play 14 games in eight days.
