BU Softball Sweeps PSAC Weekly Awards

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University swept the weekly softball awards from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) on Monday. Named the PSAC Central Division Player of the Week was Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore), while Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) was named the PSAC Central Division Pitcher of the Week.

Mauro hit .625 in five games last weekend for Bloomsburg at the Salem Invitational, helping the Huskies go 4-1. She went 10-for-16 with six runs scored, eight RBI and an .813 slugging percentage with three doubles. She hit in all five games, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance with two runs and an RBI against West Liberty. She was also 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI against Alderson-Broaddus. Mauro also knocked in three runs, scored two and was 2-for-3 against Charleston.

Fisher went 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA at the Salem Invitational, allowing six runs, five earned and 13 hits while striking out 28 and walking just three in 19.2 innings of work. She threw a complete-game, eight-inning three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and just one walk, allowing just one unearned run in a 2-1 win over Glenville State. She also tossed a five-inning complete game, one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in a win over West Liberty before falling to Fairmont State, allowing five runs in 6.2 innings despite striking out eight.

Bloomsburg, 17-3, will host Lock Haven on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
