Reed Named PSAC Central Co-Pitcher of the Week
BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University softball player Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division Co-Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 29. Reed shared the honor with Lock Haven's Kristin Erb.
Reed earns her first PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week award of the season after going 3-0 with a 0.37 ERA last week. She tossed a two-hit, five inning shutout against Clarion, striking out nine, while not allowing any base-on-balls. In a win over IUP she tossed a three-hit shutout and struckout a career-high 15 and again did not issue a walk. She then ended the week against Slippery Rock with a two-hitter giving up just one run snapping an 18-inning scoreless streak for the week. She fanned 10 and walked just one. For the week, in 19 innings, she allowed just seven hits, struck out 34 and walked just one.
On the season, Reed is 7-2 with a 0.99 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 56 innings of work. As a hitter Reed is batting .386 with three homers and 15 RBI. She also continues to climb the Bloomsburg University career-list in several categories. She is seventh in hits with 237; eighth in RBI with 103; ninth in runs scored with 136, fourth in doubles with 47; and seventh in triples with 12.
Bloomsburg plays at Holy Family today at 2:30 p.m., then hosts Lock Haven in PSAC Central Division showdown on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
