BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University softball player Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) has been named second team All-American by both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Daktronics, Inc. as voted on by the sports information directors in NCAA Division II.
Reed, a senior, was honored as a utility player after seeing action at first base, pitcher and shortstop during the season. She was also named first team All-Region by both the NFCA and Daktronics and was first team All-PSAC Central Division as a utility player in 2009.
As a hitter Reed finished second on the team in hitting with a mark of .361 and led the team in runs scored with 36, hits with 48, doubles with 11, triples with three, homers with seven and in RBI with 31. In the circle, Reed was 15-7 with a 1.60 ERA. She struck out 154 and walked just 27 in 131 innings of work. She had 15 complete games, six shutouts and allowed just 32 earned runs on the year.
In her career Reed had previously been named third All-American in 2008; first team All-PSAC East as a shortstop in 2008; first team All-PSAC East at both shortstop and pitcher in 2006 and second team All-PSAC as a shortstop in 2007.
