Softball Players Earn Post-Season Awards

BLOOMSBURG -- Six Bloomsburg University softball players have earned post-season honors for their play during the 2007 season.

Named first team All-PSAC East were pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville), designated player Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton) and outfielder Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia). Named second team All-PSAC were first baseman Alyssa English (Wallacetown/Phillipsburg-Osceola) and shortstop Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport).

In addition, earning first team All Mid-Atlantic Region honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association were Lynn and Shiko, while Reed and outfielder Missy Bachert (Coplay/Parkland) were named second team.

Named to the first team Daktronics Mid-Atlantic Region softball team in voting by the sports information directors were Lynn and Shiko.

Lynn, a junior, is 20-5 on the year for the Huskies with an ERA of 1.24. Lynn has 19 complete games and eight shutouts. She has also fanned 197 batters in 153 innings of work, while walking just 32. Lynn has been dominant throughout the season throwing two no-hitters and also going a stretch of 54 straight innings without allowing an earned run.

Shiko, a freshman, is hitting a team-high .382 with four homers and 12 RBI. She leads the team in stolen bases with eight; is second on the team in hits with 42 tied for the team lead in triples with two. Her .564 slugging percentage also is tops on the team.

Reed, a sophomore, is second in batting with a mark of .366 with three homers and 19 RBI. Reed leads the Huskies in runs scored with 33; hits with 59; doubles with 14 and tied for the team lead in triples with two. As a pitcher, Reed posted a mark of 5-5 with a 2.05 ERA. She fanned 48 in 58 innings of work and threw five complete games, two of them shutouts.

Krupiewski, a senior, is batting .300 with three homers and 21 RBI. Krupiewski is third on the team in doubles with six to go along with a triple and 12 runs scored.

English is third on the team in batting with a mark of .320 with five homers and a team-high 22 RBI. English is third on the Huskies in hits with 39; is tied for second in runs scored and has nine doubles and two triples.

Bachert, a senior, is hitting .320 for the year with a team-best six homers and 19 RBI. She also leads the team in walks with 15 nad has scored 15 runs during the year.

Bloomsburg, 36-13, will play in a second game NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional game on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
