BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University softball pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/ Danville) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 29. It is the third time this year and the second straight week she has won the award. Lynn was also named player of the week for the period ending April 2.
In a 5-1 week for the Huskies, Lynn went 3-0 to help Bloomsburg secure the No. 2 seed in the PSAC playoffs. The junior tossed 20 scoreless innings, allowing just eight hits and striking out 28 batters. Lynn hurled a one-hitter and struck out nine batters in a 4-0 win over Millersville, then allowed just three hits while striking out 12 batters in a 10-0 rout of Mansfield. In her third appearance, Lynn held East Stroudsburg to four hits and struck out seven in a 2-0 victory.
For the season, Lynn is 18-3 with a team-best 1.33 ERA. She has struck out 169 batters in 131.2 innings pitched and is holding opposing hitters to a .186 batting average.
The Huskies, 32-11, 18-6 in the PSAC East, will play their first round game of the PSAC Playoffs on Thursday at host Kutztown University. Their opponent has yet to be determined.
