Women's Track and Field Team Honored for Academics
BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University women's track and field team was recently recognized by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) as one of its top scholar teams of the year.
Coach Karen Brandt's 2008 Huskies, who had a cumulative GPA of 3.13, were one of 58 Division II schools nation-wide to be honored. The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
In addition, Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) was named to the USTFCCA All-Academic team for her efforts in the classroom. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
