Softball Team Chosen To Work Prestigious Clinic
BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University softball team has been selected to assist with the Jennie Finch Softball clinic this weekend in Williamsport. Finch was MVP of the College World Series as a collegian and was also a three-time All-American. She was a two-time Honda Player of the Year winner, two-time World Championship Gold Medalist and an Olympic Gold Medalist.
The Huskies, the only team chosen for this honor, will work with nearly 400 campers during the two-day clinic, which will feature some of the best coaches from around the country in addition to Finch.
Some of the coaches and players who will be on hand for the clinic are Doug Finch, pitching coach of the USA National team and father and personal pitching coach to Jennie Finch; and Nicole Trombolio, a four-time all-conference selection while playing at the University of Nebraska. Also, Mackenzie Vandergeest, a member of the 2001 University of Arizona national championship team and a USA team member; and Laura Berg, a four-time All-American at Fresno State, a four-time world championship gold medalist and a member of the USA National team for over 10 years.
"We are thrilled and honored to have been selected to work as counselors at this very prestigious clinic," said Huskies assistant coach Susan Kocher. "There will be some great talent there and I am sure our players will also benefit from being around such great talents. It is not often a player gets to work with Olympic and NCAA champions and we are looking forward to the experience."
