Bloomsburg Tennis Coach Coyne Honored for Community Service

BLOOMSBURG -Bloomsburg University men's and women's tennis coach Marty Coyne has been honored with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Middle States Region Community Service Award. The award honors a coach for significant contributions in developing community based tennis programs though community centers, school parks, community tennis associations, inner city, suburban and rural programs.

Coyne and his players have been instrumental in promoting the game of tennis in Bloomsburg and surrounding communities. Notable accomplishments include the town park tennis program, hosting a Special Olympics training center; creation of the BU Tennis club and the annual USTA tournament hosted by Bloomsburg. The team also volunteers with Meals on Wheels and speaks at College Day Programs thorough the state of Pennsylvania.

Coyne is in his 15th season as the coach of the Huskies men's team, 14th as women's coach. His career record as coach of the men is 176-92, and he has won 14 consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships. As the women's coach, he has compiled a 210-65 record as well as seven PSAC championships.
