Tyler Phillips Garners Second Straight PSAC Soccer Award

BLOOMSBURG--Bloomsburg University men's soccer player Tyler Phillips (Ephrata/Ephrata) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the period ending November 1. This is Phillips' second straight player of the week award.

Phillips, a freshman, scored the lone goal for the Huskies in a 1-0 win over East Stroudsburg. He scored the goal at the 47:30 mark off a pass from senior Mike McGee (Wernersville/Conrad Weiser) and beat the Warriors goalkeeper to put the Huskies on top. The goal was his 11th of the season and the win gave the Huskies their first playoff berth since 2003.

For the season, Phillips leads the Huskies in scoring with 23 points, which is also tied for seventh in the conference. Bloomsburg ended the regular season with a record of 10-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the PSAC East. Phillips and the rest of the Huskies will face No. 1 seeded Millersville on Wednesday, November 4 during the first round of PSAC playoff action.
