Tyler Phillips Earns PSAC Weekly Soccer Award
BLOOMSBURG--Bloomsburg University men's soccer player Tyler Phillips (Ephrata/Ephrata) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the period ending October 25.
Phillips, a freshman, scored three goals to lead the Huskies to a 2-0 week. In the 2-0 win over Chestnut Hill College, Phillips scored in the 30th minute off a rebound to put the Huskies up 1-0. His second goal was in the last six minutes of play when he received a pass from Marcus Valeriano (Oley/Oley Valley) to secure the game. Against Shippensburg, the freshman started scored his 10th goal of the season at the seven-minute mark to put his team on the board first. Bloomsburg captured the 4-2 victory against the Raiders to move one step closer to the PSAC playoffs.
For the season Phillips leads the Huskies in scoring with 10 goals and has one assist for a team-high 21 points. Bloomsburg, 9-5-2, 4-2-1 in the PSAC East, will host East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
