Huskies Slam Lock Haven 70-38
BLOOMSBURG- Sophomore guard Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) posted 17 points and five assists as Bloomsburg University defeated Lock Haven 70-38 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's basketball cross-over action on Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Field House.
Both teams started slowly but a three-pointer by sophomore guard Jesse Betar (Altoona/Altoona) at the 14:44 mark and a layup 27 seconds later gave the Huskies (5-4) a 7-4 lead. Bloomsburg would then go on a 13-6 run over the next 7:21 to take a 20-10 lead. The Bald Eagles (3-5) would battle back, closing the gap to 22-18 with 3:47 left in the first half before the Huskies scored six of the final eight points to take a 28-20 lead into the locker room.
The Huskies opened with a 13-4 run to start the second half, stretching their lead to 17 points with 15:33 remaining. Johnson then went to work, scoring nine points over the next 4:08 and leading Bloomsburg on a 13-2 run to take a 58-26 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Huskies would lead by as many as 36 before taking the 32-point win.
Johnson connected on 8-of-11 shots and added six rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes. Sophomore forward Larry Webster (Elkton, MD/Elkton) grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds and added eight points, five blocks and two steals while Betar added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies.
The Huskies hit the court again Sunday when they host Edinboro. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
