BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University men's basketball player Ed Hall (Spencerville, MD/Paint Branch) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Freshman of the Week for the period ending December 13. This is his second straight freshman of the week award.
Hall helped lead the Huskies to a 2-1 week with victories over Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Chestnut Hill. He scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Bloomsburg's 91-38 blowout victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Hall shot 5-of-8 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, and collected a block in just 19 minutes off the bench.
Hall came up huge on Thursday night in Bloomsburg's rematch with Chestnut Hill, getting an offensive rebound and tip-in with 17 seconds remaining to put the Huskies on top for good in their 61-58 victory. Bloomsburg trailed 58-57 when Hall scored the go-ahead points and with four seconds left and later hit a pair of free throws to ice the game. He totaled nine points on 3-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds. On Saturday, Hall scored a team-leading and season-high 17 points in the Huskies 84-67 loss to Pitt-Johnstown. He played 26 minutes off the bench, also collecting a team-high six rebounds and an assist and shot 5-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line in the Huskies lone loss of the week.
Hall is leading the Huskies (4-3) with 11.1 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game so far this season and is shooting 47.5 percent (28-of-59) from the floor in seven games.
The Huskies are off until Tuesday, December 29 when they travel to take on Goldey-Beacom. They return home to Nelson Field House for PSAC crossover matchups against Lock Haven on Saturday, January 2 and Edinboro on Sunday, January 3. Tip-offs for both home contests are at 3:00 p.m.
