Men's Basketball Team Announces 2007-08 Schedule t


BLOOMSBURG-- A matchup with a member of the Big East and 12 home games highlight the Bloomsburg University 2007-08 men's basketball schedule which was released on Monday.

The Huskies, under second year coach John Sanow, will open the season with an exhibition game with Villanova University out of the Big East. The game will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 6th at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.

"We are looking forward to the challenge of playing Big East opponent Villanova," said Sanow. "They have one of the country's best basketball programs. It will be very exciting for our players, fans, and Bloomsburg University."

Villanova, under coach Jay Wright, returns two starters from a 22-11 squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The athletic director at Villanova is Bloomsburg University graduate Vince Nicastro.

The Huskies will feature 12 home games on their schedule as well. In addition to the six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division games, the Huskies will feature non-conference games with Pitt-Johnstown, Briarcliffe and DeSales University.

Bloomsburg will open on the road at the Wilmington College Tournament Nov. 16-17; then will have its home opener on Nov. 24th against Briarcliffe.

The Huskies were 13-14 a year ago under Sanow and return nine letterwinners to the team.
